
K-State Checks in at No. 16 in NCAA WBB Top 16 Seed Reveal

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Following its best start to a season in the Jeff Mittie era, Kansas State women's basketball checked in at No. 16 in the first reveal of the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee's Top 16 seed selections on Thursday night on ESPN. Programs among the NCAA Women's Basketball Committee's final Top-16 seeds on Selection Sunday in March, will host first and second round games in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
K-State (15-5) has improved upon its win total from the 2020-21 season by six wins. Among its victoriesl this season, the Wildcats have secured a pair of wins over Associated Press top-15 ranked opponents Baylor and Oklahoma and non-conference victories at South Dakota State and a home win over Oregon.
The Wildcats have been led this season by 2022 National Player of the Year candidate Ayoka Lee and the freshman trio of Serena Sundell, Brylee Glenn and Jaelyn Glenn.
For the season, Lee leads the Big 12 and ranks second in the nation in scoring average (25.3 ppg), leads the Big 12 and the nation in total points (505) and leads the nation in field goals made (209). She tops the Big 12 in field goal percentage (.589) and blocks (3.4 bpg). She also leads the Big 12 and ranks third in the nation in double-doubles (14).
The 2022 Wooden Award Midseason Top-25 selection and 2022 Lisa Leslie Award candidate is second in the league in rebounding (10.9 rpg), eighth in free throw percentage (.757) and 14th in steals (1.4 spg). Her 505 points and 209 made field goals are new career single-season highs.
Lee, a 2022 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year candidate, is the only player in the nation with 500 or more points, 200 or more rebounds and 60 or more blocked shots.
In league play, Lee leads the Big 12 in scoring (27.5 ppg), field goal percentage (.615) and rebounds (10.63 rpg). She is second in the league in blocked shots (2.5 bpg).
In her debut season, Sundell is a three-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week selection and is second in the Big 12 for assists and assists per game (117; 5.85 apg). The 2022 Big 12 Freshman of the Year candidate is pacing the Big 12 in league-only games with 7.0 assists per game.
Brylee Glenn is a two-time Big 12 Freshman of the Week honoree and is averaging 7.5 points and 2.6 rebounds.
Jaelyn Glenn collected her first Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor earlier this week and is averaging a line of 7.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals.
K-State will end the first half of its 2022 Big 12 schedule on Saturday night in Bramlage Coliseum, as the Wildcats host TCU at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game is Junior Wildcats Club Day, as K-State welcomes members of the Junior Wildcats Club to an exclusive pregame event and will also include concession discounts and autographs from Willie Wildcat.
