MANHATTAN, Kan. – All-Big 12 Second Team honoree and Kansas State senior, Sydney Bolding, was named 2022 Midwest All-Region Honorable Mention Tuesday by the America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
This is Bolding's first All-Region nod after leading the team with a .312 hitting percentage and 38 aces in her second season at K-State. Her single season total aces are eighth-most in program history during the rally scoring era and the most by a middle blocker since 2001.
The 6-foot-5 product of Pickens, S.C., also collected a place on the 2022 Rambler Challenge and K-State Invitational All-Tournament Teams.
Bolding's 141 blocks and 1.32 block average ranked second in the Big 12 regular season statistics and finished 25th and 30th in the nation in both categories. She racked up career highs in kills (204), digs (56), blocks (139) and aces (38) this season.
The middle blocker was one of three players to play in all 110 sets for the Wildcats this season. Bolding led K-State in kills in four matches and was the blocking leader in 16 matches.
The Wildcats finished the 2022 season 15-14 and 6-10 in Big 12 play and are set to open the 2023 season in the new Morgan Family Arena next August.
