K-State Takes Home 4-1 Victory Against No. 68 Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Kansas State women's tennis team ended their road streak with a 4-1 win against No. 68 Nebraska on Wednesday (March 2) at the Dillon Tennis Center.

K-State (5-3) won the doubles point then won singles matches at No. 1, 2 and 5 positions.

Claiming the first doubles match were seniors Karine-Marion Job and Maria Linares. The duo shut down Nebraska's Elli Kuckelman, and Samantha Alicea, 6-4.

Clinching the doubles point for K-State were freshman Dinara Alloyarova and senior Anna Turco. The pair were too much for Chloe Kuckelman and Isabel Gallego as they won 6-3.

Freshman Florentine Dekkers and senior Ioana Gheorghita were overpowered by Nebraska's doubles pair Kristina Novak and Maja Makoric, 6-1.

Earning the first singles point of the match in the No. 2 spot was Linares. The Venezuela native was in control the entire way and got a win against Gallego in two-sets, 6-1, 6-0.

The second singles point came from Gheorghita in the No. 5 spot. The senior defeated Alicea in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.

Nebraska's Chloe Kuckelman had the lead against No. 108 and senior Rosanna Maffei and claimed the first point for the Huskers' 6-1, 6-2.

Closing out the day for the Wildcats in the singles was No. 96 Job in the No. 1 spot. The ranked singles player defeated Novak in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

K-State will return home to Manhattan for back-to-back matches at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. The first match will be at 1 p.m. on Friday (March 4) against Iowa, which was rescheduled from February 6. Closing out the weekend will be a match against No. 42 Northwestern on Saturday (March 5) at 12 p.m.
