‘Cats Swept by Big 12 Foe No. 4 Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 52 Kansas State women's tennis team was swept 4-0 by No. 4 Texas on Sunday (April 10) at the Texas Tennis Center.
K-State closes out the weekend 9-11 (1-7 Big 12) while the Longhorns move to a record of 16-4 (7-1 Big 12).
New doubles pair seniors Anna Turco and Ioana Gheorghita dropped their doubles match against Vivian Ovrootsky and Sabina Zeynalova 6-1.
No. 32 Charlotte Chavatipon and Kylie Collins swept K-State's doubles duo freshman Dinara Alloyarova and sophomore Manami Ukita 6-0 in the number two spot.
Seniors Karine-Marion Job and Maria Linares were tied 4-4 against No. 11 Peyton Stearns and Allura Zamarripa before Texas clinched the doubles point.
Job put up a fight against No. 38 Collins, but ended up falling 6-4, 6-3.
No. 3 Stearns was too much for No. 120 Linares and she was overpowered 6-1, 6-2.
At the number four spot, Gheorghita was defeated by Charlotte Chavatipon 6-2, 6-1, closing out the match for No. 4 Texas.
The Wildcats will finish up the regular season at the road in Lawrence as they play in state rival No. 25 Kansas on Saturday (April 16) at the Jayhawk Tennis Center. Match play will commence at 12 p.m. CT.
