
K-State Women’s Tennis Collects Six Academic All-Big 12 Honors

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's tennis team had six Wildcats earn Academic All-Big 12 First Team distinctions for the 2022 spring season, the conference announced today (April 20).
K-State seniors Karine-Marion Job, Maria Linares, Anna Turco, Rosanna Maffei and Ioana Gheorghita alongside sophomore Manami Ukita led the conference with six members on the women's side.
Turco was one of five student-athletes nominated with a 4.00 grade point average.
K-State's six honorees were among 31 other individuals on the First Team, as a total of 37 made up the team. First team recipients consisted of members who have maintained a 3.20 GPA or higher.
The pair of Linares and Turco collected their fourth-straight honor on the conference's academic first team, while Maffei and Gheorghita earned their third, Job collected her second and Ukita's distinction is her first.
To qualify for the academic accolade, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
The Wildcats are preparing to take on the TCU Horned Frogs at the 2022 Big 12 Tennis Championships on Thursday (April 21) at TCU. K-State is seeded at No. 9 while TCU is seeded No. 8.
Leading K-State is Linares with a singles record of 13-3, 5-1 in the number one spot. Job and Linares also have a record of 10-6 on the season in doubles.
Freshman Dinara Alloyarova and Turco have a 6-3 record in doubles at the number three spot.
The Wildcats will play at 10 a.m. on April 21 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in Fort Worth, Texas. The winner of the first round will then take on No. 1 seed Oklahoma on Friday (April 22) in the quarterfinals at 12 p.m.
