Wildcats Swept by No. 1 Oklahoma in Quarterfinals

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 9 seeded Kansas State women's tennis team was swept by No. 1 seeded Oklahoma 4-0 on Friday (April 22) in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championships at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The Sooners claimed the doubles point early after being victorious on courts one and three.
Senior pair Karine-Marion Job and Maria Linares dropped 6-3 to No. 3 ranked doubles duo Ivana Corley and Carmen Corley, 6-3.
Freshman Florentine Dekkers and senior Anna Turco fell to Anchisa Chanta and Dana Guzman, 6-3.
Oklahoma had the upper hand all throughout singles play.
Job was overpowered by No. 69 Chanta in the number three spot and lost in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
On court five, Turco tried to keep up with Alexandra Pisareva before falling 6-3, 6-4.
Linares played No. 10 ranked Layne Sleeth in the number one spot. It was Sleeth who came out on top and clinched the win for the Sooners, 6-4, 6-2.
The Wildcats finish the season with a record of 10-13. No. 1 Oklahoma (26-1) will advance to the semifinals and play the No. 5 seed Kansas at 12 p.m., CT on Saturday (April 23).
