MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State head volleyball coach Suzie Fritz added to her 2022 signing class with the signing of 6-foot outside hitter Shaylee Myers to the Wildcats' 2022 roster.
Myers was a four-year starter for Lincoln Southwest High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, and left as the program's all-time leader with 1,536 kills and 161 service aces. In 2021, she finished with 489 kills (4.8 per set) and a .372 hitting percentage, which was sixth-best in the state. She led the Silver Hawks to a 30-5 record and a spot in the state quarterfinals of the 2021 Class A Nebraska state tournament.
"We are excited about what Shaylee can bring to our team," Fritz said. "She is a versatile and powerful attacker with a well-rounded skill set. She has the experience and capacity to help the team in multiple ways. We believe she fits our team culture as a hard-working, high-character, academically driven young woman.
"She will join the team this summer and completes a recruiting class that shows a tremendous amount of promise for our future success."
She was named first-team Super-State by the Lincoln Journal Star, joining incoming Wildcat setter Ava LeGrand on the elite seven-member squad.
In her four seasons, Myers accumulated 880 digs and 110 blocks. She put down 398 kills (4.2 per set) with 270 digs and 57 aces as a junior and recorded a career-high 69 aces as a sophomore. Myers was originally committed to Fresno State.
Myers will join four incoming freshmen Aniya Clinton, LeGrand, Brenna Schmidt and Dalia Wilson in addition to Saint Mary's transfer Elena Baka to make up the 2022 signing class. Baka, LeGrand and Wilson each joined the program in January for the spring semester while Clinton, Myers and Schmidt will arrive this summer ahead of the 2022 fall campaign.
K-State finished the 2021 season with a 15-13 record (6-10 Big 12) and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, its 18th postseason appearance all-time and 13th under Fritz.
