MANHATTAN, Kan. - The Kansas State men's golf program is adding another piece ahead of next season, as head coach Grant Robbins announced the signing of graduate transfer Grayson Blunt.
Blunt, who is originally from Kingwood, Texas, comes to Manhattan following three years of competition at Sam Houston State.
"We are excited to announce the addition of Grayson Blunt," head coach Grant Robbins said. "Grayson is a great player that has improved each year since he's been competing in college golf."
During his time with the Bearkats, Blunt competed in 28 career tournaments, accumulating a stroke average of 74.03.
This past season saw Blunt record a 73.14 stroke average, claim three top-10 finishes, and help Sam Houston State advance to the 2022 NCAA Championship at the Grayhawk Golf Club.
Coincidentally, his best performance of the year came at Colbert Hills Golf Course at the Wildcat Invitational where Blunt shot an even-par 216 on his way to a sixth-place finish.
In addition to his collegiate successes, Blunt also advanced into the final 16 of the 2021 US Amatuer.
"Having been a part of a team at Sam Houston that made a run to the National Championship, along with him making it to the final 16 of the US Amateur, Grayson brings a great deal of experience that should have a big impact on our team both on and off the course," Robbins said.
The graduate transfer signee completes a signing class that included early enrollee Laurenz Schiergen, who just completed an outstanding spring season, and incoming freshman product Ben Stoller, an Owasso, Oklahoma product.
Blunt will join a Kansas State squad that is coming off its first berth to an NCAA Regional since 2009. The Wildcats will return a wealth of experience in addition to the talented newcomers, setting up for an exciting 2022-23 campaign.
