Nick Martini, NC Dinos (Korean Baseball Organization)
Martini signed a free-agent contract with the NC Dinos of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) last offseason. In 80 games with the NC Dinos, he has a slash line of .313/.386/.503 with 20 doubles, a triple and 11 homers. He has driven in 52 runs, scored 32 times and stole seven bases. Martini has hit safely in 11 straight games and in 13 of his last 14 overall. He went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBI on July 7 against the Hanwha Eagles and has four multi-hit games during his 11-game hitting streak. Martini spent time over three seasons in the Major Leagues with Oakland, San Diego and Chicago (N.L.). In 112 career games, he had a career slash line of .270/.369/.369 with 14 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 30 RBI. The former All-American outfielder was a seventh-round selection of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2011.
Will Brennan, Columbus Clippers (Triple-A, Cleveland Guardians)
After beginning the year with the Akron RubberDucks (Double-A), Brennan was promoted to Triple-A Columbus on May 26. In 39 games with the Clippers, Brennan is slashing .345/.417/.479 with 13 doubles, three home runs and 30 runs batted in. He was named International League Player of the Week on June 13 after producing five multi-hit games and going 16-for-25 (.640) with seven RBI and four steals. He raised his average from .220 to .379 in that stretch and reached base in 10 consecutive plate appearances over three games. Brennan put together a 12-game hitting streak from June 22-July 4. In his last game on July 10, he went 2-for-4 in a 5-3 victory over Nashville on July 10. Brennan was the only Wildcat taken in the 2019 MLB Draft, as he was selected in the eighth round (No. 250 overall) by Cleveland.
Nate Griep, Albuquerque Isotopes (Triple-A, Colorado Rockies)
Griep was assigned to the Albuquerque Isotopes (Triple-A) after being a non-roster invitee to Spring Training by the Colorado Rockies. In 28 games with Albuquerque, he has no record, four holds and an 8.74 ERA (22 ER, 22.2 IP). Griep has struck out 18 and walked 18. He has allowed just three earned runs over his last six appearances, striking out seven over a combined 5 1/3 innings. In 2021, Griep rose from Arizona League Rockies (Rookie) to Triple-A Albuquerque. He was claimed off waivers by the Colorado Rockies following the 2019 season. In his seven-year minor-league career, Griep has a 3.38 ERA with a 16-7 record to go with 113 saves in 133 opportunities. He has struck out 281 hitters in 256 career appearances (300.2 IP). Drew Mount, Louisville Bats (Triple-A, Cincinnati Reds)
Mount rose from the Arizona League (Rookie) to Triple-A Louisville last season in his third year with the Cincinnati Reds organization. On September 21 of last season, Mount was placed on the 60-day injured list after just four games with Louisville and is expected to miss the entire 2022 season. With the Bats, he went 1-for-9 with a walk and an RBI before going on the IL. Over three minor-league seasons (203 games), Mount has a slash line of .279/.335/.432 with 38 doubles, six triples, 21 home runs and 120 RBI. Mount was the only Wildcat taken in the 2018 MLB Draft when he was selected in the 16th-round by Cincinnati.
Eric Torres, Rocket City Trash Pandas (Double-A, Los Angeles Angels)
Torres was assigned to Double-A Rocket City this season after spending time with High-A Tri City last season. In 24 relief appearances this year, Torres is 2-2 and has an ERA of 1.78 (6 ER, 30.1 IP) while striking out 47. He has 10 saves in 11 opportunities while registering five holds. He did not allow a run in his first eight outings to begin the season and has held opponents scoreless in 18 of 24 games. Torres has earned a save in three of his last five appearances, allowing two earned run in 5 2/3 innings in that stretch (10 K, 3 BB). He has struck out a season-high four hitters three times this season, the last coming over two innings on June 18 against Montgomery to earn the victory. Torres was drafted in the 14th round (411th overall) by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Carson Seymour, Brooklyn Cyclones (High-A, New York Mets)
Seymour was promoted to High-A Brooklyn from Low-A St. Lucie on May 23 after going 4-0 with a 1.19 ERA (4 ER, 30.1) and 27 strikeouts in seven outings (four starts). With Brooklyn, he has appeared in eight games (six starts) and gone 0-5 with a 4.68 ERA (17 ER, 32.2 IP) and 35 strikeouts. He struck out six over four relief innings in his last appearance on July 9 against Aberdeen. Seymour struck out seven without a walk over 3 1/3 innings against Hudson Valley on July 3. Seymour was drafted in the sixth round (172nd overall) of the 2021 MLB Draft by the New York Mets.
Jordan Wicks, South Bend Cubs (High-A, Chicago Cubs)
Wicks in his in second season with South Bend (High-A) after becoming the first Wildcat to be drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft in 2021. In 15 starts this season, he is 3-3 with a 3.94 ERA (27 ER, 61.2 IP) and 76 strikeouts. He has earned the win in each of his last two starts, not allowing a run and striking out six over five innings on July 6 against Wisconsin. On June 29 against Beloit, he struck out five over five innings with one earned run allowed on three hits. Wicks collected his first win of the season on June 17 against Quad Cities after allowing two earned runs over five innings along with six strikeouts and no walks. He matched his season high with eight strikeouts on June 11 against Cedar Rapids. Wicks was K-State's highest-ever draft pick after being selected 21st overall by the Chicago Cubs in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Tyler Eckberg, Jupiter Hammerheads (Single-A, Miami Marlins)
Eckberg was assigned to Single-A Jupiter out of Spring Training and has made 21 appearances with the club, going 3-1 with a 2.29 ERA (9 ER, 35.1 IP) and 41 strikeouts. He has collected six saves in seven opportunities to go with one hold. Eckberg tossed two shutout innings of relief in his last outing on July 8, striking out three. He allowed one earned run over 2 2/3 innings on July 4 against Palm Beach. He made one relief outing with High-A Beloit, throwing three shutout innings without allowing a hit with four strikeouts to earn the victory on June 4. In June, he combined to allow one earned run over 14 2/3 innings (0.61 ERA) while striking out 19. In total this season, Eckberg is 4-1 with six saves and a 2.11 ERA (9 ER, 38.1 IP) to go with 45 strikeouts. Kasey Ford, Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Single-A, Houston Astros)
Ford has made 13 appearances with Fayetteville, going 2-1 with a 7.25 ERA (18 ER, 22.1 IP) and 31 strikeouts. He has struck out four in four innings in July over two outings. Ford tossed 3 1/3 scoreless innings on May 17 at Kannapolis, striking out three and yielding just one hit to earn the win. He has struck out a season-high four batters three times this season, the last coming on June 26 against Augusta over two innings (one earned run). Zach Kokoska, Fresno Grizzlies (Single-A, Colorado Rockies)
Kokoska was assigned go Single-A Fresno at the start of the minor-league season and has posted a slash line of .239/.317/.423 in 59 games. He has eight doubles, a triple, nine home runs and 25 runs batted in. Kokoska strung together a 12-game hitting streak from June 22-July 6 and has reached base in 21 consecutive games (June 16-July 6). He homered in three straight games (June 28-30) and went 4-for-6 with a triple, home run and four RBI on June 28 at Stockton. Kokoska was drafted in the 10th round (290th overall) by the Colorado Rockies in the 2021 MLB Draft.
Brett Lockwood, Daytona Tortugas (Single-A, Cincinnati Reds)
Lockwood is in his second season with the Daytona Tortugas (Single-A). In 13 games in 2022, he has a 1-1 record with a 4.78 ERA (14 ER, 26.1 IP) and 20 strikeouts. He tossed a season-long four shutout innings in his last appearance on July 1 at Palm Beach, striking out four with just two hits allowed. Lockwood threw 6 1/3 innings in June over three outings, striking out two with six earned runs allowed on 11 hits. Lockwood spent two seasons at K-State (2019-20) with a 3.22 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 17 relief appearances. He was a nondrafted signee of the Cincinnati Reds following the shortened 2020 MLB Draft.
Cameron Thompson, Missoula Paddleheads (MLB Partner League)
Playing for the Missoula Paddleheads of the Pioneer League (MLB Partner League), Thompson has a slash line of .302/.365/.467 with 11 doubles, a triple, five home runs and 31 RBI in 41 games. He has multiple hits in five of his last six games and in eight of his last 11. Thompson has driven in a run in five of his last six games, going 11-for-25 (.440) in that span. He went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in his last outing, a 22-14 win over Glacier on July 10. Goodwin has homered in three of his last four games, including in each of his last two contests.
