K-State Hits the Road for Matches Against DePaul and Northwestern

They compete against DePaul first on Friday at 7 p.m. CT

MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team travels to Illinois for matches against DePaul on Friday (Feb. 17) and Northwestern on Sunday (Feb. 19).
 
K-State (1-6) will face the Blue Demons (1-5) in Chicago, Ill. on Friday at the College Park Athletic Club with a 7 p.m. CT match time. The Wildcats lead the series, 2-1, against DePaul, winning 4-0 at home in their last dual in 2021.
 
On Sunday, the team will face Northwestern (3-4) in Evanston, Ill., at 12 p.m. CT. K-State is 0-2 against the fellow Wildcats, losing last season at home, 4-2. In that last meeting on March 5, 2022, current senior Rosanna Maffei defeated Justine Leong, 6-4, 6-3.
 
K-State is coming off a 4-3 loss at Tulsa on February 11, as the Wildcats rallied to split the singles matches after losing the doubles point. Sophomore Florentine Dekkers, junior Manami Ukita and freshman Maria Santos all claimed straight set singles wins over the Golden Hurricane, while Maffei and Santos won the lone double match for the Wildcats with a 6-2 victory over Laia Conde Monfort and Ana Naranjo Martinez 6-2.
 
Dekkers leads the Wildcats with 3 singles wins on the season, including a 2-1 mark at the No. 2 position, while Maffei and Ukita are each 2-2 on the season.
