Feb 21, 2023 | Women's Basketball
MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State women's basketball assistant coach Ebony Haliburton has been selected for the inaugural class of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Next Generation Institute – a new high-level education program for experienced assistant coaches who aspire to become head coaches at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels.
The Next Generation Institute curriculum focuses on the CEO attributes needed to lead a program and be a problem-solver in today's ever-changing landscape of higher education and the enterprise of intercollegiate athletics.
To be eligible for selection to participate in the program, a person must be a current WBCA member, must have at least five years' experience as a college assistant coach, and must have been nominated by their head coach. Participants will meet prior to (virtually), during (in person) and after (virtually) the 2023 WBCA Convention. The convention takes place March 31–April 2 in Dallas.
Haliburton is in her sixth season at K-State and her fourth as an assistant coach on Jeff Mittie's staff.
In addition to her coaching duties at K-State, Haliburton is also responsible for recruiting evaluation, game plan preparation and player development.
Prior to her promotion to an assistant coach at Kansas State, Haliburton served as the program's Director of Student-Athlete Development for two seasons (2017-19).
K-State (15-12, 4-10 Big 12) returns to Bramlage Coliseum on Wednesday, February 22, as the Wildcats host Kansas (16-9, 6-8) in the Dillons Sunflower Showdown at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday's game will feature a halftime performance from Simon Sez.
