K-State Competes at Home Against Kansas City and Wichita State

Match on Wednesday is set for 2 p.m. CT
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team competes for the first time at home this week after 10 straight road games to start the spring season.
The Wildcats (1-9) will face Kansas City (3-7) on Wednesday at 2 p.m., CT at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium. The team will then host Wichita State (5-4) at 2 p.m., CT on Friday at the Body First Indoor Tennis Center.
This will be the first time the Wildcats and the Roos have faced each other since 2019 with K-State leading the series all-time at 5-0 since 2014.
Against the Shockers, K-State leads the series, 4-3, with the Wildcats earning a 6-1 win last season at home. In that last match on March 27, 2022, then freshman Florentine Dekkers defeated Jessie Zheng 6-2, 7-5, while sophomore Manami Ukita fought hard in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 15-17, against Harriet Hamilton.
In the Wildcats last match (Feb. 24) against SMU they were defeated 4-0. Ukita was up on her opponent Maja Makoric, 7-6 (7-2), 3-1 but the match was left unfinished. Doubles team of senior Rosanna Maffei and freshman Maria Santos battled against the No. 24 ranked doubles team Taylor Johnson and Drew Morris but that match was also left unfinished 3-5.
