SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Kansas State junior men's golfer Luke O'Neill completed his first round of the 2023 NCAA Championship with a 5-over par 75 on Friday at the par-70, 7,289-yard Grayhawk Golf Club.
The Connemara, Ireland, native finished his first 12 holes at 1-over par, but double-bogeys on Nos. 13 and 18 dropped him down the leaderboard into a tie for 104th place heading into Saturday's second round.
The fifth Wildcat ever to compete in the NCAA Championship and the first since Robert Streb in 2006, O'Neill carded three birdies on the day on Nos. 4, 8 and 14. Friday was just his fourth over-par showing in his last 13 rounds played dating back to early April.
O'Neill will begin his second round of the 2023 NCAA Championship on Saturday with a 1:42 p.m. (PT) tee time off hole No. 10. Live results can be followed at Golfstat.com.
