K-State to Hold Morgan Family Arena Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Prior to Home Opener

Aug 22, 2023 | Volleyball

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State fans are invited to attend a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally dedicate and open the Morgan Family Arena and Morris Family Olympic Training Center prior to the Wildcats' home opener against Omaha on Friday, Sept. 1.

The ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication will begin at 3 p.m. outside the northwest doors of the arena.

With the voice of K-State Volleyball Brian Smoller as the emcee, the short ceremony will include President Richard Linton, Athletics Director Gene Taylor, head volleyball coach Jason Mansfield, and head strength and conditioning coach for Olympic sports Danny Cavender.

As part of the Building Champions capital initiative, the Morgan Family Arena has dramatically enhanced the student-athlete and fan experience at K-State volleyball matches. The 3,000-seat arena provides first-class amenities including two concession stands with new featured items, an official Rally House K-State team store, in addition to two videoboards and multiple stat and ribbon boards.

The two-level, air-conditioned volleyball arena features two practice courts for efficient training with a Taraflex game court along with team meeting rooms, locker room, team theater and coaches' offices. In addition, auxiliary locker rooms to accommodate multiple teams for regular season and NCAA tournament matches will be added.

The Morris Family Olympic Training Center services 12 of the 16 K-State Athletics' teams.  It features a 14,000 square foot strength and conditioning center, sports medicine and rehab space, hydrotherapy tubs, nutrition and refueling station, and an 8,000 square foot multi-use turf area.  The Morrison Family Mental Health Center is also a part of the facility and provides the necessary tools for overall wellness and performance enhancement.

The Morgan Family Arena and Morris Family Olympic Training Center was a $24 million project that broke ground in early 2022 located directly south of the west parking lot, with the ticket office located on the northeast corner.  Funding for this project was raised through generous philanthropic gifts by donors and friends of K-State Athletics.  No University or state funds were used in the construction of this facility.

With the Nebraska match sold out, single match tickets to the remaining 12 home matches are now available through the K-State Athletics ticket office at 1-800-221-CATS and www.kstatesports.com/tickets. Tickets start at just $8 when purchased in advance.
