Legendary former K-State football coach Bill Snyder was born in St. Joseph and lived there through his graduation at Lafayette High School. He was a 2021 inaugural member of the St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame and has remained involved with future enshrinement ceremonies as he presents the Snyder Women of Impact Award on an annual basis.
The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Tigers, 45-39, including a 5-4 mark in games played at a neutral site. This marks the 10th neutral site meeting in the series and the first since K-State secured a 79-58 win over Missouri in the 2004 Big 12 Championship in Dallas, Texas, on March 10, 2004.
K-State concluded its 55th season of action with a 19-17 record and the 33rd postseason appearance in program history with its seventh bid into the WNIT. Earlier in the 2022-23 season, the Wildcats became the 19th program in NCAA Division I history to surpass the 1,000-win mark.
The Wildcats will be led in the 2023-24 season by 2022 consensus All-American and three-time All-Big 12 First Team selection Ayoka Lee. Joining Lee will be K-State's 2022-23 leading scorer and All-Big 12 First Team selection Gabby Gregory, 2022-23 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention recipient and Maryville, Missouri, native Serena Sundell and Kansas City, Missouri, products the Glenn sisters, Brylee and Jaelyn.
