
Cats in Ninth Through Two Rounds

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Kansas State men's golf team recorded a 36-hole score of 1-under par 575 on Monday and resides in ninth place after the first day of the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate held at par-72, 7,546-yard UNM Golf Course.
The Wildcats put together a round of 3-under par 285 in the morning, but they fell three spots on the leaderboard in the afternoon following a score of 2-over par 290. K-State is one shot ahead of USC and four strokes behind eighth-place BYU.
Senior Luke O'Neill leads the way for K-State as he is tied for sixth place at 6-under par 138 after shooting a pair of 69s on the day. Starting on hole No. 11, his morning round featured five-straight birdies on No. 18 through No. 4 with another one on No. 6.
Junior Cooper Schultz is tied for 19th place at 2-under par 142, which included a round of 3-under par 69 over the first 18. Another junior, Nicklaus Mason, bounced back from a 4-over par opening round with a 1-under par 71 in the afternoon. He begins final-round play on Tuesday tied for 56th at 3-over par 147.
A pair of newcomers in Alex Lindstrom and JP Roller are tied for 71st and 96th, respectively. Lindstrom, a transfer from Hutchinson Community College, recorded a 1-under par 71 in the first round, but he faltered over the second 18 and is at 5-over par 149. Roller carded a 36-hole score of 11-over par 155.
Texas Tech enters the final round with a two-shot lead over host-school New Mexico at 18-under par 558. The Red Raiders' Tyran Snyders is atop the individual leaderboard at 9-under par 135.
