
K-State Prepares for Two Meets Hosted at New Indoor Track Complex

The multi events will begin competition on Thusrday at 12 p.m. CT
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams will compete in the first two home meets of the season starting on Thursday (Feb. 1) at the newly renovated Indoor Track & Field Complex.
The Austra Skujyte Women's Pentathlon/Steve Fritz Men's Heptathlon starts at 12 p.m. on Thursday with the heptathlon 60 meter dash. K-State will compete with four in the pentathlon, one in the heptathlon.
The two-day DeLoss Dodds Invitational will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 2) with three field events-- the Janee' Kassanavoid women's weight throw, Erin Anderson women's pole vault and women's long jump.

In the week two U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) indoor rankings released on Monday (Jan. 29), the men's team sits at no. 21 in the country. In week one they debuted at no. 15, the highest the Wildcats men have started since 2012 when they were no. 12 to start the season.
The first USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings were also released on Monday, K-State men's high jump ranking no. 1 in the country. The 'Cats four high jumpers—sophomores Aaron Antoine and Bryce Collins, junior Marcus Gelpi and senior Devon Richardson—have the highest cumulative season best marks at a height of 2.14m/7-0.
The Wildcats last competed in the Texas Tech Corky Classic on Jan. 19-20 in Lubbock, Texas, eight athletes finishing in the top-three. Junior Monique Hardy and senior Kade McCall in the weight throw, Hardy winning her third straight meet (20.94m/68-8.50) and McCall with a new personal best as runner-up (21.36m/70-1).
On the track, freshman Josphine Wanjiku finished 2nd in the mile with a new fastest time (4:49.47) and junior Matthew Hauser ran in both the men's mile (2nd; 4:13.57) and 3,000 meters (3rd; 8:49.73).
