MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head women's golf coach Stew Burke announced Wednesday the signing of two golfers – one American and one international player – who will join the Wildcats in time for the 2025-26 season.
The two newest Wildcats are Stalee Fields (Fort Worth, Texas) and ShiXin (Casey) Kang (Lanzhou, China).
Fields is currently ranked 71st nationally in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) rankings thanks to a pair of victories this past summer. In June, Fields won the Patrick Reed AJGA Junior at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas, with a 54-hole score of 9-under par 207. She carded three under-par rounds in the event, including a 69 in the second round and a 68 in the field round to hold on for a two-shot victory. Three weeks later, Fields earned a 10-shot victory at the Shane Bacon Junior Championship held at Pine Dunes Resort & Golf Club in Frankston, Texas. In that event, Fields' winning total of 3-under par 213 was fueled by a first-round score of 69 and a second-round total of 68.
A product of Hebron High School, Fields was the 2023-24 Texas 6A Regional Champion and 2022-23 District Champion. She was part of a squad that won the district and regional championships before finishing in fifth place at state in 2021-22, while the Hawks finished third at regionals and 10th at state in 2022-23.
"We are really excited to have Stalee join us next fall," Burke said. "She is a proven winner in the AJGA and impressed us throughout the recruiting process with the technical improvements that she has made with her game in addition to her level of competitive maturity. We know she is going to be a great addition, and we expect her to slot right into our starting lineup from day one."
Kang has earned four junior or amateur events in Thailand while attending International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She also won the Feng ShanShan International Junior Championship, which led to her exemption into the CLPGA 2024 Singapore Ladies Masters.
"Casey has been on our radar for a long time," said Burke. "I couldn't be more delighted that we were able to defeat a number of schools for her signature. We love the fact that she competes a lot in junior, amateur and professional events throughout Asia, and she has the determination and desire to turn pro upon graduation.
"This class of Stalee and Casey is going to be the strongest class we have brought in at K-State since we arrived, and we look forward to welcoming them both on campus this fall."
The Wildcats, who are ranked 30th in the latest National Collegiate Golf Rankings, are back in action February 2-4, when they compete in the Puerto Rico Classic at the Grand Reserve GC in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
