Wildcats Wrap Up Regular Season with Senior Day and Oklahoma State

K-State will honor Aleen Quamar and Manami Ukita on Friday at 11 a.m.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State women's tennis team will host senior day on Friday (April 12) against Louisiana Tech before finishing off the regular season at Oklahoma State on Sunday (April 14).
K-State (10-10, 4-8 Big 12) will face Louisiana Tech (14-6, 3-1 CUSA) at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium on Friday at 11 a.m., honoring seniors Aleen Quamar and Manami Ukita.
This will be the first meeting between the Wildcats and the Bulldogs.
To finish off the regular season, the Cats will head down to Stillwater, Okla. in a match against #1 Oklahoma State (23-0, 12-0 Big 12) on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT at Greenwood Tennis Center.
K-State is 0-8 in regular season matchups against the Cowgirls. Ranked no. 1 in the country, OSU has five ranked singles players in their lineup: #4 Ange Oby Kajuru, #12 Anastasiya Komar, #56 Lucia Peyre, #73 Safiya Carrington and #89 Ayumi Miyamoto. They also feature one doubles team at #5 with Oby Kajuru and Komar.
Last weekend the Wildcats went 1-1 against #55 UCF (1-4) and Houston (4-1), leading to the 10th win of the season and 50th career win for head coach Jordan Smith. Sophomore Maria Santos won both matches in straight sets, now 8-3 in the no. 6 spot this season. Ukita clinched the match against the Cougars, winning in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 7-5.
Ukita is 10-13 in fall and spring competition this season. She started as a freshman in 2020, beginning her career with a 16-10 singles record. In the spring of 2021 she was named to the Big 12 Commissioners Honor Roll, also being named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Quamar joined the team in January 2023 and competed in 14 singles matches throughout the season. During this past fall schedule she went 4-7, two wins each during the ITA Central Regional and Big 12 Fall Invite.
