The Big 12 Tournament will start on Wednesday, April 17

STILLWATER, Okla.- The K-State women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season on Sunday (April 14), falling 4-0 to the no. 1 ranked team in the country, Oklahoma State, at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

K-State (11-11, 4-9 Big 12) could not find an answer to #1 Oklahoma State (24-0, 13-0 Big 12), dropping the doubles point and unable to gain enough momentum against ranked singles opponents.

The doubles lineup looked a little differently against the Cowgirls, freshman Charlotte Keitel, competing in doubles for the first time since March 3, partnered with junior Veronika Kulhava for the first time in the no. 2 spot, losing to Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez 6-3.

Competing in the no. 1 position for the first time, freshman Maralgoo Chogsomjav and sophomore Maria Santos faced the no. 5 duo in the country, Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru, falling short 6-2.

In the no. 3 spot, freshman Jillian Harkin and senior Manami Ukita went unfinished against Safiya Carrington and Kristina Novak, 3-5.

Sophomore Vanesa Suarez, competing for the first time since the Houston matchup on April 5, faced #12 Komar in the no. 1 position, falling 6-1, 6-2.

Keitel competed in the no. 2 spot against #4 Oby Kajuru, losing 6-1, 6-3.

Santos, back in the no. 6 position, was defeated by the only unranked opponent, Novak, 6-0, 6-1.

Ukita, last facing a ranked opponent on February 9, was the only Wildcat to not start a second set, battling against #89 Miyamoto in a high scoring 5-7 first set in the no. 5 spot.

Chogsomjav went unfinished against a second ranked opponent, #56 Peyre in the no. 3 position, where she was up in the second set, 2-6, 3-2.

Kulhava competed in the no. 4 spot for the first time, where she was down 6-1, 4-3 to #73 Carrington.

K-State awaits final seeding for the Big 12 Tournament, set to begin on Wednesday (April 17) in Stillwater, hosted by the Cowgirls.
