AUGUSTA, Ga. – Kansas State junior Carla Bernat carded a final-round score of even-par 72 at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday as she finished the Augusta National Women's Amateur in a tie for 17th place with a 54-hole score of 3-over par 219.
A native of Castellon, Spain, Bernat began her day at Augusta National with a bogey on No. 1 before going bogey-free and 3-under par her next 10 holes. She bogeyed Nos. 12 and 15 before coming back with a birdie on No. 16 and a bogey on the final hole.
Bernat finished second in the field among Big 12 golfers as Texas' Lauren Kim finished just one stroke ahead in a tie for 14th place at 3-under par 218. Another Longhorn, Farah O'Keefe, tied for 20th place at 4-over par 220, while Oklahoma State's Maddison Hinson-Tolchard missed the 36-hole cut.
Florida State's Lottie Woad carded birdies on three of her final four holes — including back-to-back birdies on Nos. 17 and 18 — to earn the win, defeating USC freshman Bailey Shoemaker by one shot after Shoemaker carded the lowest final round in Augusta National Women's Amateur history at 6-under par 66.
Bernat will travel straight from Augusta to Norman, Oklahoma, to join the rest of her Wildcat teammates prior to the Match Play at Jimmie Austin, Monday and Tuesday, at the par-72, 6,488-yard Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.
