Women’s Tennis Adds Three to Academic All-Big 12 Teams

12 Wildcats have earned conference academic honors in the last six seasons
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team was featured by three women—Maria Santos, Vanesa Suarez and Manami Ukita to the Academic All-Big 12 Teams by the conference on Tuesday (July 2).
Santos, a returning junior, was the only Wildcat named to the First-Team, earning a degree in business. Santos collects a consecutive conference academic honor, being named to the All-Rookie team last season.
Suarez and Ukita were both named to the Second-Team, for a total of 12 women named to the academic team 27 times in the last six seasons under head coach Jordan Smith.
First-Team honors are maintained by a 3.20 GPA or higher, the Second-Team selections with a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must also have competed in the program for one previous year and have competed in 20 percent of the team's scheduled contests.
