Schultz Qualifies for 124th U.S. Amateur

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior Cooper Schultz recorded a round of 3-under par 67 to qualify for the 124th U.S. Amateur during sectional qualifying on Monday at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
Schultz, who tied for sixth place at the sectional qualifier that saw 16 players advance, will be making his third appearance in the U.S. Amateur after also qualifying in 2021 and 2022.
Schultz began sectional qualifying with a birdie on the par-4 3rd but dropped two shots with bogeys on Nos. 6 and 9. However, the Andover, Kansas, product went bogey-free and 4-under par on the back 9 with birdies on Nos. 10, 12, 13 and 15 to claim his spot in the Amateur.
The 124th U.S. Amateur will be held August 12-18 at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. A total of 312 competitors will compete in 36 holes of stroke play on August 12 and 13 before the field is cut to the top 64 competitors for match play beginning on August 14. Television coverage of the U.S. Amateur will begin on the first day of match play on both Peacock and GOLF Channel.
