MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior women's golfer Carla Bernat will step out of competition for the Wildcats as she takes part in the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) this Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday at Champions Retreat Golf Club and Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
The 72-player field will spend the first 36 holes on Wednesday and Thursday on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat after which a cut will be made to include the leading 30 players and ties. All 72 competitors will play a practice round at Augusta National, while the final round will be played at the home of the Masters Tournament on Saturday.
This is the third time that Bernat will play in the event that is entering its sixth year as she also competed in 2022 and 2024. Of the 273 players that have competed in event history, Bernat is one of only 42 that have been selected on three or more occasions.
Bernat missed the cut in 2022 after rounds of 79 and 77, but she bounced back in 2024. Following an opening-round score of 78 last year, she turned in the best second-round score at 3-under par 69 to move on to Augusta National. It was the lowest ranking after the first round by a player who battled back to make the cut in championship history. A native of Castellon, Spain, Bernat went even par during the final round to tie for 17th place at 3-over par 219.
Checking in at No. 26 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), Bernat and her caddie, K-State assistant coach Rinko Mitsunaga, begin play in the ANWA at 9:21 a.m. (ET) off the 10th team on Wednesday before an 8:46 a.m. (ET) tee time off the first tee on Thursday. Bernat will be paired with Texas' Lauren Kim and Minnesota's Isabella McCauley for the first two rounds.
The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will be broadcast live on GOLF Channel (1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET) from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (12 to 3 p.m. ET) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Additionally, GOLF Channel's "Live From the Masters" will commence on Friday at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
Live scoring of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will be available at www.anwagolf.com.
