Errors Hurt Cats in Tuesday Loss

BOSTON, Mass. – Two costly errors opened the door for Northeastern to overcome an early 3-0 deficit, as the Huskies put together an 11-4 win Tuesday at Friedman Diamond.
K-State (23-13) opened the game with three runs with home runs from Seth Dardar and Keegan O'Connor. The lead was short lived as Northeastern (26-9) came back to tie the game in the third, before plating two runs in the next frame and taking control of the game.
"You have to play catch, take care of the baseball and situationally hit to win games at our level. We did none of these things today," head coach Pete Hughes commented. "Our short-term goal is to become a more consistent product and thrive on doing the little things all the time."
K-State starter Tanner Duke (1-2) was tagged for the loss after surrendering five runs, including four that were unearned, in three innings of work. The right-hander ended his fourth midweek start allowing five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Five different Wildcats produced a hit with O'Connor driving in a team-high two RBI. Adam Arther logged 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats tacked on three runs in the opening frame, led by a solo blast from Dardar. Catcher Bear Madliak was hit by a pitch and came around the bases on O'Connor's 10th homer of the season.
NU answered and quickly took the reins after scoring eight runs over a four-inning span.
After four scoreless innings, pinch hitter Nick English singled through the right side and advanced to second on a hit to left from Dee Kennedy before a throwing error pulled the game within four.
The Huskies recovered the run handed over in the top of the sixth, as Harrison Feinberg launched a solo shot to center field.
