Apr 02, 2025 | Women's Golf
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Kansas State senior women's golfer Carla Bernat turned in a score of 4-under 68 as she resides in a tie for sixth place following the first round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) on Wednesday at the par-72, 6,450-yard Champions Retreat Golf Club.
Starting on the 10th tee, Bernat put together a bogey-free round with birdies on the par-4 12th hole, par-4 15th hole, par-5 3rd hole and par-3 6th hole. It was her second round in the 60s out of her six total rounds in the event. Her previous best score in the ANWA was a 3-under par 69 in last year's second round.
"It was awesome," Bernat said. "I played well and hit the ball really solid. My speed was really good too. I think I managed the important moments pretty well today."
Bernat is five shots off the pace set by Stanford's Megha Ganne, who turned in a record-low score of 9-under par 63. Defending champion Lottie Woad of Florida State is in second place with a score of 7-under par 65, while a trio of players are tied for third place at 5-under par 67.
Coming in at No. 29 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), Bernat will begin second-round play off the first tee at 8:46 a.m. (ET) on Thursday. Following the second round, cut to include the top 30 players and ties will be made to advance to Saturday's final round at Augusta National Golf Club.
The second round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will be broadcast live on GOLF Channel (1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET). Live scoring is available at www.anwagolf.com.
