LAWRENCE, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team started the spring schedule on Thursday (January 16) with singles and doubles matches against Iowa State in the Jayhawk Invitational at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
Not competing for a team score, seven Wildcats competed in singles matches for three victories over the Cyclones, while also winning one of three doubles matches. These two teams will face each other again at the end of the regular season on April 10 at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium.
The Chogsomjav sisters, junior Maralgoo and freshman Martaa, started the day successful over no. 34 ranked Mari Paz Alberto Vilar and Stanislava Shulzhenko, 6-2. Freshman Sasha Kyselova and sophomore Chanel Rustemova encountered a tiebreaker in their match against Julia Camblor and Gabriella Kellner where the pair eventually fell short at 6-7 (4-7).
