The Horned Frogs have won 5 of the last 7 meetings, including 3 straight.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State (10-12, 1-8 Big 12) plays the first of 3 straight Saturday games in the Lone Star State, as the Wildcats make a visit to Schollmaier Arena to play TCU (13-9, 3-6 Big 12). This will be the first of 2 regular-season meetings as the Horned Frogs head to Manhattan on Feb. 28. Tip is set for 1:07 p.m., and will air on TNT and truTV with Spero Dedes, Greg Anthony and Jared Greenberg on the call.
Saturday will be a reunion of sorts for junior P.J. Haggerty, who began his college career at TCU in 2022-23. The Crosby, Texas native played in just 6 games for the Horned Frogs, averaging 2.8 points on 55.6 percent shooting with 1.5 rebounds in 9.0 minutes per game, before earning a redshirt. He transferred to Tulsa for the 2023-24 then onto Memphis and K-State.
Injuries continue to plague the Wildcats, who are off to their second-worst Big 12 start and the worst since 2020-21. The team played just 8 players in last Sunday's loss to No. 8/9 Iowa State, as starters Abdi Bashir Jr. and Khamari McGriff missed their fourth consecutive game, while a third starter - Elias Rapieque - was out for his sixth game in a row.
Like K-State, TCU is coming off a midweek bye after dropping am 87-61 decision at Colorado on Sunday afternoon. The Horned Frogs are 13-9 overall, including 3-6 in Big 12, but have lost 6 of their last 8 games since an overtime defeat at Kansas on Jan. 6. They are led by sophomore David Punch, who leads the team in scoring (14.3 ppg.), rebounding (7.2 rpg.) and blocked shots (2.2 bpg.).
This will be the 36th meeting between K-State and TCU, as the schools have met at least once every season since 2013. The Wildcats lead the series, 21-14, including 8-5 in Fort Worth, however, the Horned Frogs have won 5 of the last 7 meetings, including 3 straight.
