MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Kansas State put the finishing touches on a second-round total of 6-under par 282 on Monday at the Michael A. Marino Classic held at the par-72, 7,370-yard Dunes Golf and Beach Club. K-State is in 10th place in the 16-team field with a 36-hole score of 4-over par 580.
The field was scheduled to play one round apiece on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but with inclement weather in the area on Monday, the teams played half of the second round on the first day and finished it up on Monday.
Sophomore Fionn Dobbin enters the final round tied for 12th place at 4-under par 140. The Lisburn, Northern Ireland, native went 3-under par 69 in the second round as he parred his first seven holes of the inward 9 before a pair of bogeys to close out the round. It was his second round in the 60s this season.
Senior Alex Lindstrom had the team's best second-round score at 4-under par 68 – which included two eagles on par 5s – as he recorded his fourth round in the 60s this season. That put his 36-hole score at even-par 144 as he enters the final round in a tie for 26th place.
Freshman Oliver Toyer is tied for 58th place at 5-over par 149 after posting an even-par second round thanks to parring all 9 holes he played on Monday. Another freshman, Ville Virkkala, is a shot back and tied for 65th place as he went 1-over par 73 in the second round.
Senior JP Roller is tied for 75th place at 8-over par 152.
