The junior earmed AP All-America honors for the second time in his career.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Junior guard P.J. Haggerty was an honorable mention selection to The Associated Press All-America team, which was announced on Tuesday afternoon (March 17).
It marked the second time in Haggerty's career that he earned All-America honors from The Associated Press after being selected to the Second Team while at Memphis in 2024-25. He was a consensus Second Team All-American in 2024-25 while with the Tigers as he was named to the First Team by Andy Katz, the Second Team by AP, U.S. Basketball Writers Association and The Sporting News and the Third Team by the NABC and College Hoops Today.
Unanimous selection Cameron Boozer of Duke headlined the AP All-America First Team, along with BYU's AJ Dybantsa, Michigan's Yaxel Lendeborg, Arkansas' Darius Acuff Jr. and Texas Tech's JT Toppin. The Second Team included Iowa State's Joshua Jefferson, Purdue's Braden Smith, Michigan State's Jeremy Fears, Illinois' Keaton Wagler and North Carolina's Caleb Wilson. The Third Team consisted of Houston's Kingston Flemings, Alabama's Labaron Philon Jr., Florida's Thomas Haugh, Texas Tech's Christian Anderson and Gonzaga's Graham Ike.
Haggerty was an honorable mention selection, alongside Butler's Michael Ajayi, Arizona's Jayden Bradley and Brayden Burries, Florida's Rueben Chinyelu, St. John's Zuby Ejiofor, Stanford's Ebuka Okorie, Kansas' Darryn Peterson, Iowa's Bennett Stirtz, Vanderbilt's Tyler Tanner and Ohio State's Bruce Thornton.
Haggerty, who was the AP's pick for Big 12 Transfer of the Year and an All-Big 12 Second Team selection, finished as the nation's No. 3 scorer at 23.4 points per game, while scoring in double figures in all 31 games played this past season, which included 23 games of 20 or more points and five games of 30 or more points. He is the first Wildcat since Jacob Pullen in 2009-10 to score in double figures in 31 consecutive games, while his 725 points are the fourth-most in a single season and the most since Michael Beasley had a school-record 866 in 2007-08.
Nationally, Haggerty finished with the second-most field goals made (271), fifth-most field goals attempted (554) and the sixth-most points (725).
Haggerty's 23 games of 20 or more points are the second-most in school history, while the five 30-point games are the fifth-most. Both are the most in each category since Beasley recorded school records in both (26 20-point games and 13 30-point games) in 2007-08.
Haggerty reached a career milestone at Houston on Feb. 14 when he became the fifth current Division I player to eclipse 2,000 career points.
For the season, Haggerty averaged 23.4 points per game on 48.9 percent (271-of-554) shooting, including 35.1 percent (40-of-114) from 3-point range, and 70.1 percent (143-of-204) from the free throw line with 5.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 35.2 minutes per game.
