Former Wildcat Blake Adams Makes MLB Debut with Rockies

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Right-handed pitcher Blake Adams became the latest Wildcat to reach the Major Leagues after making his MLB debut Monday night with the Colorado Rockies.

Adams, who wore No. 57 in his debut, became the fifth Wildcat to make his MLB debut in the last five seasons. In addition to Adams, other former K-State standouts to make their big-league debuts include Will Brennan (Cleveland Guardians, 2022), Jordan Wicks (Chicago Cubs, 2023), Carson Seymour (San Francisco Giants, 2025) and, most recently, Kaelen Culpepper (Minnesota Twins, 2026).
Adams entered the game in the bottom of the seventh with the Rockies trailing 8-2. After surrendering a pair of runs, Adams immediately recorded three outs, including forcing a double play to end the inning. He faced nine batters in his debut, including 2023 Golden Spikes Award winner Dylan Crews, and ended the night allowing five earned runs on five hits over one inning of work.
The Springdale, Arkansas, product pitched one season for the Wildcats in 2022 before being selected in the 13th round of the MLB Draft later that summer. At K-State, Adams made 17 appearances, including 13 weekend starts with six quality starts and four relief outings. He went 6-6 with a 5.07 ERA, 90 strikeouts and 34 walks.
Adams earned the Opening Day start in his K-State debut against No. 10 Arizona in 2022, striking out eight batters over six innings. He ended his time with the Cats leading the team in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts, while ranking sixth in the Big 12 in innings pitched and ninth in strikeouts. He earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors, while his 90 strikeouts in 2022 are tied for 10th in K-State's single-season records.
This season, Adams has appeared in 25 games in the minors, including 15 relief outings and two starts with the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes. In 2026, he posts a 6.52 ERA and a 3-5 record with three holds. During his time in the minors this season, the right-hander compiled a 1.49 WHIP, while opponents hit .289 against him.
As of August 25, there are 23 active Wildcats playing at the professional level, including three in the Majors, four in Triple-A, seven in Double-A, three in High-A, two in Single-A and four in Rookie ball. Triple-A players include Brennan, Nick Goodwin, Brendan Jones, and Wicks.
