MANHATTAN, Kan. – Highlighted by a dominating Set 4 performance and double-double from sophomore setter Camdyn Stucky, K-State won the K-State Invitational tournament title, as the Wildcats defeated Campbell in four sets (25-17, 20-25, 25-18, 25-11) Sunday afternoon at Morgan Family Arena.

Playing in front of the season's first sellout crowd, the Wildcats (2-0) put down 45 kills and nine service aces and clicked for a .299 efficiency. The defense held a 46-45 edge in digs to go with 10 blocks to limit Campbell (1-1) to a .198 hitting percentage. Freshman Addison Massey turned in 10 kills – her second 10-kill match of the season – while Stucky registered the first double-double of the year behind a match-leading 24 assists and 12 digs.

Senior libero Fuka Sekita was named the K-State Invitational Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament team by senior Reagan Fox and freshman Addison Massey. In her K-State debut, Sekita totaled 22 digs (3.14/set) over two matches, while Massey tallied a team-leading 31 points with 24 kills (3.43/set), two aces and six blocks. Fox was second with 16.5 points, tallying 14 kills with four blocks.

Overall Statement…
"Really proud of how we responded after the second set. Campbell is a really good team, with a winning tradition. They made the tournament last year and lost to the eventual national champion in the tournament. We knew they were going to be tough, but I love our response after the second set. The third set was tough and found a way to kind of pull away late. Really loved our connection in the fourth set as a team."

On the changes among starters specifically Avery Stones and Reese Resmer…
"They both have been practicing really, really well. Avery [Stones] has had a really good fall camp and played well at Missouri State. I gave her a shot today, and I thought she played really well. She brings an energy to the court that's really infectious and really positive. She's, I'm sure, fun to play with. I haven't played with her, but she's fun to coach when she's out there. I just really love how she was herself, and kind of went for it. And then Reese [Resmer], all three middles are good for us. They're going to be playing. They all have something unique about them that makes us better. So really proud of Reese. Such a great athlete. Again, another person that it seems like it's fun to play with her. She makes plays every day that are wow plays, both offensively and as a blocker. So proud of both of them for helping us win."

On the adjustments made after Campbell continued to serve to outside hitters…
"Most teams are gonna make our outside hitters pass to attack. Fuka [Sekita] does a really good job of taking balls in the seam. But it's a big responsibility for them to pass first, and we passed extremely well in this match and they had 17 misses, so they were really going for it. But even with the balls that were in, we passed really well. It's a lot of pressure. There's going to be a lot of pressure on all four outside hitters that have to pass for us in opposites. So, I thought they handled it really well."

On holding Campbell to just 71 points in a four-set match…
"We really try to focus on scoring streaks of points, and so in order for that to happen, we have to serve really well, and we did again today, and then obviously play great defense and transition offense. So, it's something that we really focus on. But we got really good servers, really good blockers, good defenders. Our team defense is really good, and you're not going to keep a team with a low score if you're not scoring a bunch of streaks of points. So big emphasis this year, and we definitely have the team to do it."

On every player seeing the court in today's match…
"Everybody works hard every day, and as a coach, you have to eventually put a lineup on the floor, and we're trying to find the pieces that fit best together, but we have a lot of depth in every position and a lot of players that work really hard every day. And so, whether they're on the court for a couple points or a set they deserve that experience when we can give it to them. But we're also trying to find the unit that's gonna help us be successful, and that might be different every match. I'm hoping it's a strength of our team for sure, that we have people that can step up, and then as the season goes on, the chemistry just gets better and better."

CAMDYN STUCKY, SOPHOMORE SETTER
On what goes into stopping streaks defensively…
"I would say just taking a deep breath, realizing what they're trying to do, service-wise, and making a plan for that, and sometimes that means even telling my girls, if the ball is good, I'm going to set you, just so they're ready, and just going from there and stopping that streak and hopefully going on one of our own."

On what she saw from K-State during the fourth set and the run they went on…
"It was just great to see everybody that came off the bench just keep that momentum. It felt like the energy on the court didn't change no matter who came in, and when you have a lead like that, it's so easy to slip up because you get comfortable, and I'm really glad and proud of our team that we didn't do that and we just kept going hard."

FUKA SEKITA, SENIOR LIBERO
On communicating with attackers and setters…
"Personally, I'm trying to talk to the hitters, when we're passing. If I tell them that like I got your seam, just go get a score, they can trust me and I know that I'm going to get the balls. They don't need to worry about the passing and just focus on the hitting. I think that's the point that I'm most focusing on, to have communication with the hitters, and I know if I pass good, [Camdyn Stucky] is gonna set perfect, and then they're gonna get a score. So, I'm just focusing on my job."

On what she saw from K-State during the fourth set and the run they went on…
"We had a conversation, just play our volleyball. Everybody coming on the court and then changing is just like practice. So, I think we just played our volleyball just like the practice."

Set 1 – K-State 25, Campbell 17

Tied 9-9, K-State rallied behind a 6-2 scoring run led by a service error and block from Avery Stones and Ellah Derrer.
The Cats stretched their lead, 19-12, with a kill from sophomore Sydney Maue to force a timeout from Campbell.
Campbell scored three consecutive points with a kill from Victoria Tupy and ace by Tess DeZurik, but momentum was snapped with a kill from Maue to start off a 3-1 closing run.
K-State hit an incredible .400 (12 kills, 2 errors) in Set 1, led by three kills from Fox and Addison Massey.
The Wildcats' defense limited Campbell to a .192 efficiency (11 kills, 6 errors) with a 3-0 block advantage.

Set 2 – Campbell 25, K-State 20

K-State scored six of eight to erase a four-point deficit and tied the set 9-9.
Campbell responded with a 3-1 scoring run, highlighted by kills from Hannah Pattie, Breanna McMillan and Victoria Tupy, to take a 15-10 advantage.
K-State trimmed the deficit to 16-14, but Campbell regained control, maintaining their advantage down the stretch to level the match, 1-1.
The Camels out-hit K-State .289-.059 in Set 2, racking up 15 kills on 38 swings with four errors.

Set 3 – K-State 25, Campbell 18

The Wildcats scored four straight points out of the gate, leading to a 9-4 edge.
Campbell responded with a 5-0 scoring run to bridge the gap to one, 11-10, with a kill Heytvelt.
K-State put together a 10-4 closing run to take back the lead in the match.
Led by a set-high four kills from Maue, K-State hit .333 with 12 kills and three errors in Set 3, paced by Stucky's eight assists.
Each team accumulated 12 digs, while the Camels held a 2-1 edge in blocks.

Set 4 – K-State 25, Campbell 11

K-State dominated the fourth set from the opening whistle, racing out to a 7-1 lead behind three kills from Avery Stones and two from Sydney Maue.
The Wildcats continued to pull away, building a 13-3 advantage before Emerson Van Lannen ignited a 3-0 run with back-to-back service aces.
K-State then scored five straight points behind strong serving from Massey, including two aces, to take a commanding 21-4 lead.
Campbell managed a late 3-0 run to reach double figures, but the Wildcats closed out the set 25-11 on a kill by Cadence Lundgren.
The Wildcats hit at a season-best .524 efficiency (12 kills, 1 error), while Campbell had six kills against six errors for a .000 hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Cats had a 4-0 advantage in blocks and 11-8 lead in digs.
Every player from K-State's roster made an appearance in Set 4.

INSIDE THE BOX

K-State hit .299 with 45 kills and 13 errors on 107 swings, while Campbell turned in a .198 hitting percentage behind 45 kills, 21 errors and 121 attempts.
Massey paced the Wildcat offense with 10 kills, followed by Stones (9) and Maue (8).
Stucky registered a double-double with a match-leading 24 assists and 12 digs.
Emma McCartney was the only player for Campbell to reach 10 kills, leading all players with a match-high 11.
Four Wildcats recorded at least three blocks, highlighted by four from Derrer (1 solo, 3 assists), while Fuka Sekita turned in 10 digs.
Emerson Van Lannen produced a match-high three service aces, followed by Stucky and Massey each with two.
Sekita and Derrer both tallied an ace.
K-State out-blocked Campbell, 10-5, and held a 46-45 edge in dig production.
Sunday's match featured just five tied scores, with no lead changes.

TEAM NOTES

All 16 players of K-State's 2026 roster made an appearance in Sunday's match.
K-State was three points off from tying the rally-scoring era school record for fewest points allowed in a four-set match (68, Sept. 1, 2009 vs UMKC).
Sunday's win marked the 24^th victory at Morgan Family Arena.
With the win, K-State takes a 1-0 lead in the all-time series with Campbell.

PLAYER NOTES

Stucky registered her first collegiate double-double with a career-high 24 assists and 12 digs.
Massey turned in her second straight 10-kill match on her way to earning All-Tournament honors.
A senior transfer from UTEP, Sekita recorded her second 10-dig match, bringing her total career dig count to 386.
Junior Tatum Tindall and freshman Chandler Carter made her collegiate debut in Set 4.
