FIRST SERVE
- K-State (2-0) continues its four-match homestand this weekend, as the Wildcats face CSUN (1-2) and Drake (1-2) at the Wildcat Classic at Morgan Family Arena.
- The Cats will take on the Matadors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, before wrapping up the round-robin style tournament Sunday against the Bulldogs at 1 p.m.
- Seniors Reagan Fox and Fuka Sekita, and freshman Addison Massey earned All-Tournament honors.
- Sekita was named the tournament MVP after spearheading a defense that limited opponents to a .149 hitting percentage.

K-STATE AT A GLANCE
- K-State started off its 53rd season of volleyball and fourth under head coach Jason Mansfield 2-0, claiming the K-State Invitational title after topping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Campbell.
- The Cats swept TAMUCC 25-15, 25-14, 26-24 Friday night before taking down Campbell, a 2025 NCAA Tournament team, in four sets – 25-17, 20-25, 25-18, 25-11.
- The Wildcats clicked for a team .275 efficiency and put down 87 kills, led by 24 from Addison Massey.
- Reagan Fox, Sydney Maue and Ellah Derrer also each registered 10-plus kills over opening weekend.
- Defensively, K-State limited opponents to a .149 hitting percentage led by senior libero Fuka Sekita, who totaled 3.14 digs per set and earned K-State Invitational MVP honors.
- Joining Sekita on the K-State Invitational All-Tournament Team were Massey and Fox.
- Setters Camdyn Stucky and Emerson Van Lannen combined for 63 assists and 37 digs.
- Stucky registered the first double-double of the season against Campbell with 24 assists and 12 digs, while Van Lannen turned in seven service aces.
- K-State out-blocked opponents 20-6 and owned a 86-75 edge in total digs.
- Freshmen Ellah Derrer and Massey led at the net, each recording six total blocks.
A FRIDAY NIGHT VICTORY WOULD…
- Hand K-State its 47th victory under head coach Jason Mansfield, and 25th at Morgan Family Arena.
- Mark the team's third 3-0 start under Mansfield and the program's third over the last five seasons.
- Two wins this weekend would move K-State to 20-12 in non-con action and also mark the third 4-0 start in the Mansfield era.
SCOUTING CSUN
- After finishing 1-2 at the season opening Buffs Classic in Boulder, Colo. last weekend, CSUN makes its first trip to Manhattan since 1996.
- The Matadors posted a .182 team efficiency of the three-match event, averaging 12.50 kills per set while the defense limited opponents to a .155 hitting percentage with 15.50 digs per set and 3.50 blocks per set.
- CSUN's defense 42.0 total blocks finished ninth in the nation, while its 3.50 blocks average ranked seventh.
- Senior middle blocker Iye Okolo was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after posting a conference-leading 23 total blocks (1.92/set) over the Matadors three matches in Boulder.
- Okolo tallied a career-high 14 blocks in a five-set loss to Denver that included three solo stops.
- Friday's match is the third all-time meeting between the Matadors and Wildcats, with K-State holding a 2-0 edge in the series.
- It is the first matchup against CSUN since December 2, 2004, where the Cats picked up a three-set NCAA Tournament opening-round victory in Los Angeles, Calif.
- CSUN went 17-13 in 2025, that included a 10-8 mark in Big West play. The Matadors were 8-9 overall on the road.
SCOUTING DRAKE
- Drake is coming off a four-set victory over Milwaukee in the Drake Invitational finale, while finishing opening-weekend 1-2.
- Fifth year libero Jasmine Dulan is third in the nation in digs per set (5.82) and 15th overall in total digs (64) through Week 1.
- Dulan spearheads a defense that leads The Valley and ranks eighth nationally in digs per set (17.18).
- Drake was voted No. 2 in the Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Poll, receiving one first-place vote and returning nine players from its 2025 roster.
- Returners include outside hitter Caroline Smith, who earned All-Freshman Team honors last season.
- Sunday marks the 32nd match of the all-time series between K-State and Drake.
- The Wildcats lead the series 24-7 with a current five-match winning streak. K-State is 9-1 in the last 10 matches of the series.
- Drake finished its 2025 campaign 18-12 overall and 12-4 in league play. The Bulldogs finished third in The Valley final standings.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Senior libero Fuka Sekita is 14 digs from recording her 400th career dig during her NCAA collegiate career. She tallied 364 during her time at K-State.
- Sophomore Caleigh Ponn totaled 201 digs in her freshman campaign. With 11 in 2026, Ponn is 38 shy of her 250th career dig.
BIG 12 RANKINGS
- After the first weekend, K-State leads the Big 12 in service aces per set (2.14), totaling 15.
- K-State's defense finished just second to Utah in opponents kills, limiting opponents to 10.43 kills per set, alongside the fourth-best opponent hitting percentage at .149.
- The offense was fifth in the conference with a .275 team efficiency.
- Individually, Reagan Fox's .444 hitting percentage finished third overall in the league, while Emerson Van Lannen led in aces per set (1.00) and was second in total aces (7).
UP NEXT
- Following this week's Wildcat Classic, K-State will set out to Reno, Nevada for its first road test of the season.
- The Wildcats will take on Weber State in the Nevada Tournament opener on Friday, September 8 at 8 p.m. MT, before meeting Nevada on Sunday, September 13 at 3 p.m.
