JOIN OUR CREATIVE INTERN TEAM

K-State Athletics Communications aims to support the department’s goal of delivering the best fan experience in the Big 12 through intelligent and innovative use of technology, web, social media, print and digital communications platforms to inform, engage and entertain. The creative team works hand-in-hand with the department’s external units and individual sport programs to help craft and amplify messages. The creative team aims to tell great stories and enable others in the department and external media to do so easily and effectively.  

We’re looking for creative, curious, collaborative, passionate and hard-working individuals who want to chase excellence for themselves and their team while learning and innovating as creative interns. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Team members should know or will learn proficiency in the following areas:

  • Utilize Adobe creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) to create content for social, digital and print
  • Storytelling; knows what connects fans to a team; ability to engage passionate fan base through a variety of mediums
  • Work with K-State's Marketing and Fan Experience and K-State Sports Properties and other partners to create unique branded content
  • Create digital assets to support storytelling efforts (GIFs, memes, filters, snaps, infographics, and blogs)
  • Maintain a consistent voice that is aligned with K-State Athletics or its individual teams

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual should possess some of the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of a variety of sports as a former player, manager or fan at any level
  • Possess basic photography and videography skills
  • A good eye for design and are able to think graphically
  • Passion to learn in an ever-changing industry
  • Hunger for information; a finger on the pulse of pop culture, sport, and tech
  • Great taste and ability to give and receive criticism
  • Kindness and a sense of humor are also greatly valued

RECOMMENDATIONS

Student interns should be willing to commit to the following:

  • At least 12 office hours per week while school is in session
  • Attending monthly staff group training sessions and periodic student individual and staff meetings
  • Open to assisting with gameday communications responsibilities at K-State home competitions if needed
