Named to the College Sports Communicators All-District Team after maintaining a 3.88 grade point average as an elementary education major …. Attended Miller High School in Miller, South Dakota ... Fernholz was named the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of South Dakota ... She was named to the 2019 Under Armour Girls High School All-America Second Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) ... She collected 2019 AVCA High School All-Region honors and was named a PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Ace as one of the nation's top 150 recruits ... Fernholz collected over 1,900 kills with over 300 blocks in her high school career and while amassing over 450 kills at a .441 clip in her senior season ... She is a two-time first-team all-state selection while also earning second-team all-state honors as a freshman. She led the Rustlers to the top seed in the state tournament in 2019, reaching the state semifinals ... Fernholz also led MHS to an appearance in the Class A championship match in 2018.
