Randy Peterson is in his 22nd year in the K-State Athletics Communications office and his 19th with the K-State women’s basketball program.
Peterson is an active member of College Sports Communicators (CSC) and has earned a number of national and regional honors for his publications including “Best in the Nation” finishes for the 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2021-22 K-State women’s basketball media guides and the 2021-22 postseason women’s basketball media guide and a national runner-up finish for his 2016-17 K-State women’s basketball media guide. He also garnered a pair of national runner-up finishes for his 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2021-22 K-State women’s basketball game notes.
Peterson is currently in his ninth year of service on the CSC Scholarship and Grants committee and served a three-year term (2014-16) as a member of the CSC publications committee.
In addition to serving as the Director of Women’s Basketball and Soccer Communications, Peterson also provides color analysis during K-State women’s basketball road games.
Before K-State, Peterson earned his Master’s of Science degree in sport management at Western Illinois in 2004 while serving as the primary contact for six sports.
Peterson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration with a certificate in sports management from Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2002. While attending Grand View, Peterson was a four-year letterwinner and three-time Academic All-Midwest Classic Conference selection on the men’s basketball team and helped the Vikings to two NAIA Division II National Tournament appearances.
Peterson and his wife, Heather, reside in Manhattan with their daughter Colbie and son Zeke.
