One of the most recognizable players in school history, Mitch Richmond was a two-year lettermen at K-State for head coach Lon Kruger from 1986-88. He helped guide the Wildcats to 45 wins, two NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the 1988 NCAA Midwest Regional Final.

As a senior, he led the Wildcats to a then school-record tying 25 wins and a trip to the Elite Eight. He averaged 22.6 points on 51.4 percent shooting and was a second team All-American by several outlets.
At the time of induction, he held the K-State single season scoring record with 768 points. A two-time Olympian, he was the fifth overall selection of the Golden State Warriors in the 1988 NBA Draft. Ne was name the 1989 NBA Rookie of the Year. One of just 10 players in NBA history to average 21.0 or more points in each of his first 10 seasons, he was a six-time NBA All-Star and five-time All-NBA selection during his 14-year career. In addition to his K-State jersey, he also has his Sacramento Kings’ jersey retired.
