Trio of Wildcat Doubles Teams Advance At The ITA Regional Championships

TULSA, Okla. - All three of Kansas State's doubles teams advanced to the second round of the The Omni Hotels Regional Championships at the Tulsa Southern Tennis Club in Tulsa, Okla.
The doubles team of senior Alena Jecminkova and freshman Andrea Cooper, the No. 5 seed, received a bye in the first round after No. 7 seed Katia Sevcikova and Urska Juric of Missouri pulled out of the regional. No. 14 seed Kathy Chuda and Maria Rosenberg also received a bye. Unseeded Hayley McIver and Paulina Castillejos advanced with a 9-8 win over Utah's Irini Kotoglou and Linn Ronnerg.
In doubles action today, Jecminkova and Cooper will play Oklahoma State's Erin Pauchnik and Katia Vasylyeva. No. 14 seed Chuda and Rosenberg take on Missouri's Cassie Drake and Mary Barry, while McIver and Castillejos play the No. 1 seed Helen Lawson and Renate Stoop of Boise State.
In singles today, Jecminkova, the No. 1 seed, will play Leijla Porobic of New Mexico State, No. 5 seed Petra Sedlmajerova takes on Brooke Parsons of Air Force, and No. 9 seed Maria Rosenberg plays Michelle Heidbrink of New Mexico.
