Wildcats have started the season 0-1 at home
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team will wrap up the non-conference schedule at home starting on Friday (February 20) with Old Dominion at Peakform Sports and Wellness Center.
This will be the first meeting between both schools as K-State (1-3) starts the weekend on Friday against Old Dominion (1-3) at 4 p.m. The Wildcats will then face Minnesota (7-3) on Sunday (February 22) at 12 p.m.
This will not be the first time freshman Martaa Chogsomjav will encounter the Gophers, she defeated two opponents on the way to her Milwaukee Tennis Classic Singles Title back in September, successful over Jeselle Ante and Aiva Schmitz.
During the first home match on February 13, the Cats fell to Wichita State at 4-2. Sophomore Chanel Rustemova won her third consecutive match in the no. 6 spot, defeating Anne Knuettel, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Diana Smolinska earned the other point with a win in the no. 4 position against Kristina Kudryavtseva, 6-2, 6-2.
In a ranked doubles match, #33 Martaa and junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav went unfinished against the Shockers' #12 Giorgia Roselli and Xin Tong Wang on the no. 1 court at 3-5.
Prior to the week six rankings from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) there are multiple chances for ranked match ups while facing Old Dominion in singles and doubles.
K-State will then start the conference schedule at home to end the five-match home stand on February 27 against Cincinnati and March 1 versus West Virginia.
