MANHATTAN, Kan. - Head men's golf coach Tim Norris announced today the signing of Tim Moody to a national letter of intent to play golf at Kansas State beginning in the 2001 Fall season.
Moody, a native of Lindstrom, Minn., spent the last two seasons at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville, Iowa, where he earned third-team Junior College All-America honors as a freshman and led the Warriors to the 2000 NJCAA National Championship. The 6-foot-4 250 pound Moody also led Indian Hills C.C. to the 2000 regional championship where he won the individual title, shooting rounds of 69-74--143.
"He has won at every level, from junior golf to high school and junior college and I expect that to continue here," Norris said. "He will bring some leadership to our team from the fact that he has been on some successful teams. He's a long hitter with his size, and that fits with today's game. The courses are getting longer and just with our course here, that's going to help."
As a prep, Moody competed at Chisago Lakes High School where he was a 1999 all-state selection and a four-time Minnesota High School State Championship participant. Moody was a six-time letterwinner for Chisago Lakes, staring for the high school squad during his seventh and eighth grade years. In addition, Moody was a five-time all-conference squad member and won the 1998 league championship.
At the national level, Moody was named an honorable mention AJGA All-American and was the AJGA's 1999 Izzo/Compaq Junior Classic Champion.
