MANHATAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men's golf team returns to a familiar setting, as the Wildcats compete in the Colleton River Collegiate, Sunday and Monday, held at the par-72, 7,403-yard Pete Dye Course of the Colleton River Plantation Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
This week marks the seventh time the Wildcats will compete in this event, placing fifth or better in each of their previous six trips. K-State earned a runner-up finish in both 2023 and 2025, the former of which it posted the ninth-best 54-hole score in school history at 32-under par 832.
"We are excited to get back to Colleton River," head coach Grant Robbins said. "This tournament is one of the highlights of our schedule. It is a strong field and a world-class golf course, and the support of the Colleton River community really sets it apart. The golf course is very demanding and will test every part of your game. It is a great opportunity for us."
K-State will be joined in South Carolina by Chattanooga, No. 40 Cincinnati, East Tennessee State, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, No. 50 Kentucky, Memphis, host-school Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, No. 42 Northwestern, Ohio State and Rutgers.
Kansas State is looking to regroup from 17th-place finish out of 24 teams last time out in The Prestige after the final round was canceled in the middle of the day and scores reverted back to the 36-hole total.
The Wildcats will use the same scoring lineup as The Prestige in senior Alex Lindstrom, freshman Ville Virkkala, sophomore Fionn Dobbin, freshman Oliver Toyer and senior JP Roller. Additionally, senior Shea Harmeson will compete as an individual.
Lindstrom leads the team with a scoring average of 72.44 and pair of top-10 finishes. Two years ago at the Colleton River Collegiate, the Halmstad, Sweden, native carded a score of even-par 216.
Virkkala, a native of Espoo, Finland, and Toyer, a product of Cambridgeshire, England, hold scoring averages of 73.00 and 73.56, respectively, in their rookie campaigns. Virkkala has placed in the top 20 in half of his six starts this season, while Toyer is part of the scoring lineup for a fourth-straight event dating back to the Blessings Collegiate Invitational at the end of September, which is the last time the Wildcats completed a 54-hole event.
A product of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Dobbin has averaged 74.19 strokes per round as a member of the scoring lineup in all seven events this season. He earned a tie for eighth place at the Git-R-Done Invitational at 2-under par 211 in September.
Roller is in the scoring lineup for a second-straight event. Two years ago at the Colleton River Collegiate, the Jenks, Oklahoma, native finished at 1-under par 215.
A transfer from Saginaw Valley State, Harmeson ranks third on the team with a 73.24 scoring average this season thanks in part to a tie for second place in the Wildcat Invitational.
Play at the Colleton River Collegiate begins with a shotgun start to the first two rounds at 8 a.m. (ET) on Sunday, while Monday's final round will be shotgun start beginning at 7:45 a.m. (ET). Live results can be followed on SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd.
