Manhattan, Kan. - Fiona Lindo-Jeffrey won both the 60- and 200-meter events Friday to lift Wyoming to the team victory at the Kansas State Invitational women's indoor track and field meet held at Ahearn Field House.
Wyoming finished with 145 points to just edge the host Wildcats, who finished with 143. Nebraska-Omaha was third at 137.5, with Emporia State fourth at 87.5. Friday's meet included only women's events, with a men's meet scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
Lindo-Jeffrey won the 60 in 7.76 seconds and went 25.05 to capture the 200 meters. Wyoming won each track event contested at 600 yards and under, while also capturing the weight throw.
Kansas State got first-place performances from Nicole Grose (800 meters), Trisha Culbertson (3,000 meters), Sarah James (pole vault), Austra Skujyte (long jump), Teena Clincy (triple jump) and Rebekah Green (shot put). Green improved her NCAA provisional-qualifying mark with a 52-9.50 mark in the shot, while Skujyte finished second in that event at 52-8.25. Her mark was also an NCAA provisional qualifier and moved her into a tie for third on K-State's all-time list in that event.
Culbertson's win in the 3,000 at 10:32.42 came in the freshman's collegiate debut. She began her day with a second-place finish in the mile at 5:19.54.
"We had a lot of people who didn't compete," said K-State Coach Cliff Rovelto, noting the team's training schedule. "Austra's mark in the shot will get her into the national meet and she long jumped very well. She was hurting after having a bike accident recently, so considering that she really had a good day.
"Nicole Grose had a good run in her first 800 ever indoors, and I thought Carmen Wright, coming off a torn ACL, had a nice meet for her first meet back in more than a year."
The Kansas State men host an invitational on Saturday, with Wyoming, Emporia State and Oklahoma State competing. Field events begin at noon with the running events at 2:30 p.m.
