
K-State Finishes Regular Season at Home with Steve Miller Invitational

The Wildcats end the season hosting a third meet at Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams will wrap up the regular season on Friday (February 20) hosting the Steve Miller Invitational at the Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track. Admission is free and open to the public.
The day will start with the women's pole vault at 1:45 p.m., the track events begin at 3:40 p.m. with the women's 60-meter hurdles prelims. Competing teams include Kansas, Wichita State, Fort Hays State and more.
In the USTFCCCA week four rankings from February 17, the men are #4 in the NCAA with 116.40 points, just two points shy of #3 Oregon (118.39). The women moved up two more spots to #12 with 70.05 points.
On February 18, senior Gary Moore Jr. was named the Big 12 Men's Co-Athlete of the Week, the second Wildcat to earn the honor this season, following Tah Chikomba on February 4.
Moore Jr. broke his own school record again in the weight throw with a launch of 23.54m (77' 2.75") during the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. He currently holds the no. 1 throw in the Big 12 conference and the no. 5 spot in the NCAA.
During that Tyson Invite on February 13-14, two more school records were broken, senior Vanessa Mercera surpassed her own record in the 400 meters in 52.83 seconds. The women's 4x400 relay, with freshmen Desirae Riehle, Delaney Brinker, Anastasiia Kretova and Mercera, ran the fastest indoor time at 3:33.59, breaking the previous record of 3:34.27 from 2015.
The postseason will start the following week with the Big 12 Championship on February 27-28 in Lubbock, Texas, at the Sports Performance Center.
