Mortimer Hit School Record Late Friday Night

Walnut, Calif. - Amy Mortimer set a Kansas State school record in the women's 5,000-meter run late Friday night at the Mt. San Antonio College Relays being held in Southern California.
Mortimer finished in 15:52.99 to place 17th in an international field. Her time was an automatic-qualifying mark for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Nationals in late May, and also broke the school record of 15:54.12 set in 1986 by Jacque Struckhoff. The time for Mortimer also shattered her previous collegiate best of 16:07.26 set at the 2000 NCAAs.The Wildcat junior had previously hit an automatic mark this season in the 1,500-meter run, going 4:18.17 at Stanford.
Also late Friday, K-State's Shadrack Kimeli was 28th in the men's 5,000-meter run at 14:16.61.
