Kansas State Tennis Team Shuts Out Iowa State

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The No. 43 Kansas State tennis team won its fourth Big 12 Conference match of the season today and snapped a three-match losing streak with a 7-0 shutout of Iowa State at the Washburn Tennis Facility.
The Wildcats' are 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the Big 12 while Iowa State falls to 5-8 overall and 1-6 in league play.
Senior Kathy Chuda ran her winning streak to five matches with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. She sports a 10-3 dual record, 5-2 Big 12 mark and 16-8 overall record.
Classmate Alena Jecminkova won her ninth dual match of the year with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Jecminkova also moves to 5-2 in league play and 13-11 overall.
Junior Petra Sedlmajerova snapped a two-match losing streak with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. She now has a 9-4 dual match record at No. 3, 4-3 Big 12 mark and 14-10 overall record.
At No. 5 singles, freshman Andrea Cooper won her second match of the season with a 7-5, 6-0 win. She sports a 2-2 record at No. 5, 4-2 mark in conference play and 7-9 overall record.
Sophomore Paulina Castillejos snapped her three-match losing streak with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles. She improves her records to 3-3 in the Big 12 and 8-11 overall.
Rookie Maria Rosenberg had the closest match of the day, winning 6-2, 5-7 (10-7). The super-set was the Manhattan HS products second of the season. Rosenberg is 9-5 in dual action, 5-2 in league play and 16-6 overall.
Kansas State won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches today. Jecminkova and Cooper won their third in a row with an 8-4 victory. Chuda and Sedlmajerova broke out of a three-match slump for an 8-4 win. Rosenberg and Castillejos chalked-up their fifth win of the season with a 8-2 victory.
Kansas State closes out its home schedule on Sunday with a 1 p.m. match against Missouri at either the Washburn Tennis Facility or Ahearn Field House.
