K-State Cross Country Secures Trio of Top 25 Finishes at Chile Pepper Invitational

Led by Trisha Culbertson, the Wildcat women raced to a 20th place finish at the 37 team meet. Culbertson, who finished with a time of 21:47.05 on the 6,000-meter course, placed 23rd out of 285 runners. Shauna Burrell had a strong race as well, placing 46th with a time of 22:12.67.
The Wildcats were without the services of one of their top runners, freshman Stefanie Murer, as K-State finished the meet with a score of 522. Nevada took home the team title with a score of 114. Marlies Overbeeke of Virginia Tech won the individual title with a time of 20:47.42.
Chesang led the Wildcats for the 11th consecutive meet, racing to a fourth-place finish in a time of 29:54.27. The 10,000 meter time marked the second fastest time in school history at the distance.
Rogers Kipchumba managed to put on a strong showing, finishing 23rd out of 262 runners with a time of 30:39.43 on the 10,000-meter course. Joe Moore was the third Wildcat to cross the finish line, placing 104th with a time of 32:13.50.
Arkansas took home the team title with a score of 78 while Westly Keating of Texas-Pan American won the individual title with a time 29:25.88. Kansas State finished with a score of 483, good for 21st place
This was the last tune-up for the Wildcats before the Big 12 Cross Country Championships. K-State will travel to Austin, Texas, on Friday, October 31, for a 10:00 a.m. meet.
