Cross Country Nears Finish Line with NCAA Midwest Regional
Nov 13, 2025 | Cross Country
This is the Wildcats first time back at this course since the Regional meet in 2023
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's cross country teams continue the postseason on Friday (November 14) with the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, Okla., at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course.
Both race times have been moved up, the women's 6k now starting at 9 a.m. CT, with the men's 10k following at 10 a.m. Both races can be streamed on ESPN+.
This is the first race back in Stillwater for the Wildcats since the regional meet in 2023. This will also be the first 10k of the season for the men, with just two Wildcats, sophomore Jackson Esquibel and junior Jacob Norris, with experience in this race last season. During that regional race in 2024 the women's team finished in 14th place with 427 points, the men in 19th place with 505 points.
The Midwest region includes three Big 12 Conference opponents, Iowa State, Kansas and Oklahoma State. The Cowboys and Cyclones are no. 1 and 2, respectively, in the men's USTFCCCA National coaches' poll. Other regional teams in the men's rankings are Tulsa (20) and Oklahoma (21).
On the women's side there are four ranked teams as well, Iowa State (6), OSU (9), Northwestern (11) and Missouri (27).
"I think this meet, Big 12, is harder than the regional because it's just that competitive," head coach Kate Bucknam said. "But you know, [Cecilia Fisher and Grace Meyer] have a shot to be in the top-30, potentially All-Region. You know, that's the goal, but it's going to be competitive."
During the Big 12 Championship meet on October 31, the women's team finished the 6k in 9th place, the men's team in 11th after the 8k, both one spot higher than last season. Esquibel led the men in 57th place with a time of 24:51.2, freshman Logan Beckman with the only personal best race, 15 seconds faster at 25:02.1 in 64th place. The women had two top-50 finishers, senior Grace Meyer crossed the finish line at 44th place in 20:59.4, sophomore Stella Miner just two seconds behind at 21:01.8 in 46th place.
