Kansas State Falls To No. 12 Kansas, 82-64

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kirk Hinrich scored 28 points as No. 12 Kansas cameback to beat Kansas State 82-64 Saturday, the Jayhawks' 26th straight victoryover their state rivals.
Keith Langford had 18 and Miles 13 for Kansas (17-5, 7-1 Big 12), which hasnot lost to Kansas State (11-10, 2-6) since Jan. 17, 1994. The Jayhawks havenot lost in Manhattan since Jan. 29, 1983, a span of 20 games.
Since Bramlage Coliseum opened in 1989, the Jayhawks are 15-0 on theWildcats' home court.
With 14:13 left and Kansas State holding a 47-45 lead, Kansas' Nick Collisonpicked up his fourth foul. The crowd of 13,340, the second sellout of the year,began to roar in anticipation of an end to the Jayhawks' long domination.
But the Wildcats were able to add only two points to their lead until Mileshit a short jumper and then stole a pass and drove in for a layup to ignitetake-charge 14-2 run, putting Kansas up 61-53.
A few minutes later, Hinrich, after a furious exchange under the Kansasbasket as both teams fought for the rebound, got control of the ball andstepped out to drill what was first ruled a 3-pointer.
But after conferring, officials decided it would count only for two points,giving Kansas a 67-60 lead with six minutes remaining.
A moment later, Michael Lee stole the ball for Kansas and fed Langford, whocompleted a three-point play to fuel a 15-0 run.
Collison had just 10 points, about half his season average.
Tim Ellis had 14 points for Kansas State. Marques Hayden had 13, GilsonDeJesus 11 and Matt Siebrandt 10.
The Jayhawks went up by six in the first half on a 3-pointer from Hinrich,who was about five feet behind the arc. But then Ellis came back with3-pointers on the Wildcats' next two possessions and DeJesus, after Collisonmade two free throws for a 28-24 Kansas lead, canned a third straight3-pointer.
Hayden's two free throws put Kansas State on top 34-32 with 39 seconds left,their first lead since making the opening bucket of the game. Then Hayden'sfollow shot at the buzzer gave Kansas State a 36-35 halftime lead.
