McIver Picks Up Second Big 12 Tennis Player Of The Week Honor

MANHATTAN, Kan. - For the second time in three weeks, Kansas State junior Hayley McIver garnered the Big 12 Conference Tennis Player of the Week announced by the league office Tuesday. McIver shares this week's honor with Oklahoma's Anda Perianu.
McIver, who primarily plays No. 5, currently has a six-match winning streak and has won nine of her last 10 matches. The 6-foot left-hander helped the Wildcats win their fifth-straight match with a victory over Kansas this past weekend. McIver beat Christine Skoda, 7-5, 5-7 (10-8) at No. 4 singles. It was the first time in her career she played a match at a position higher than No. 5.
The Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, native is 20-9 overall and 7-1 in Big 12 singles play. McIver became the first Wildcat to win 20 matches in a single season since Alena Jecminkova, Petra Sedlmajerova and Eva Novotna each reached the milestone in 2001. McIver's singles wins are more than she has recorded in her two previous years combined.
In doubles, McIver has a 16-8 overall record and a 6-2 mark in league action.Kansas State returns to action this weekend when it hosts No. 30 Texas A&M at 2 p.m. Friday and No. 33 Texas at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Washburn Tennis Facility on the K-State campus. The Wildcats are 11-4 overall and 6-2 in the Big 12 this season.
