AUSTIN, Texas - Chaytan Hill finished fourth and added more than 10 inches to her previous career-best in the women's triple jump, while Amy Mortimer also placed fourth in the women's 1,500-meter run to highlight Kansas State performances Saturday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Hill jumped 43 feet, 4.50 inches for the Wildcats, surpassing her previous career-best outdoors of 42-6.25. Her effort was well past the 40-foot mark needed to qualify for the NCAA Regionals to be held at the end of May.
Senior Zivile Pukstiene of SMU won the women's triple jump at 44-5.25.
Mortimer ran 4:23.32 in the women's 1,500, getting fourth when she edged Kajsa Haglund of Texas-Arlington at the line. Tiffany McWilliams of Mississippi State won the event in 4:19.47. Mortimer's time was also a regional-qualifying mark.
Mike Kizinkewich and Kyle Lancaster each cleared 6-10.75 to tie for 10th place in the men's high jump on Saturday, also hitting the NCAA regional standard. Shaun Kologinczak of Nebraska went 7-3 to win the high jump.
